MEET OUR MUSHERS
Randy MacKenzie
Hello and welcome! I am Randy the founder and team lead of Controlled Chaos. What more can I say other than I love dogs. Since I’ve been a little boy, I had always dreamt I would one day be doing this. While I have shared many memorable experiences in my more than 20 years of mushing. I take pride each day in going to the dog lot where I get to unwind and relax with the best company. During my rare non mushing moments, I am also the owner and operator of MacKenzie Boarding Kennels - a local Fort McMurray small business. As a business owner and long time resident of this community, it means the world to me when we are able to attend community events and interact with folks from all across the region. It has been inspiring to watch Controlled Chaos develop over these last few years. To train and coach alongside my friends at the dog lot has brought me immense joy. I can’t hardly wait for the amazing things to come.
Dave Stearman
Hi folks! I’m Dave, one of the mushers and team leaders here at Controlled Chaos. I came into this crazy life of mushing after meeting the others at one of their camp outs. Throughout the years, I’ve learned to hone my skills at mushing and handling. In my spare time, I love to run my Border Collies in agility, play some hockey or just hang out at the cabin. Coming from Woodville, Ontario, mushing was not something I was accustomed to or grew up around. After moving to YMM to become a City Planner, I figured there was no better way to enjoy northern living than to learn this wonderful sport.

Greg Mersereau
Hey! Greg here. I’ve been playing this crazy game for around 6 years or so now. I’ve had the pleasure of going as a driver to the Canadian Challenge with the “B Team” multiple times now and it’s an absolute blast! Very much still a rookie at mushing but it’s so much fun! I have definitely improved since my first run (Randy and Darren can attest to that ha ha). I look forward to getting better and better. I originally come from Tracy, New Bruinswick and let me tell ya, it’s quite a switch to go from driving draft horses, (Clydesdales to be specific) to a dog team. It’s a whole lot harder than they make it look in the movies. But I must say, it’s very relaxing and peaceful on the back of the sled! All I can say is, come for a tour and you will understand what I mean. In my spare time I also enjoy hunting, camping and basically anything outdoors. I’m just a country boy crowded in the city so anytime I can get out in the woods with my wife, Crystal and our friends, it’s a good day!

Dr. Jessicca Fielding
Well hello there! My name is Jessicca and I have been a proud member of Controlled Chaos since 2015. Originally from Nova Scotia, I managed to find my way out west like many others through my passions and work as a Veterinarian. Helping to secure the wellness of our canine athletes has been an incredible journey that I have been proud to share along side my friends and fellow mushers. Over the years, I have enjoyed many memorable experiences such as handling and running in the Canadian Challenge Dog Sled Race. Or even attending the 2018 Iditarod! I thoroughly love spending my time outdoors, running dogs, riding my horse and relaxing among the best of company.

Erin Deveau
Hi, I’m Erin! I’m one of the volunteers here at controlled chaos, and I’m currently in the beginning stages of learning how to mush! Being on the sled gives you such a sense of respect for the athletes working for you. Watching them work together at a mushers point of view is incredible to watch. My passion for animals started as a child. Growing up I’ve had the privilege of working with dogs and horses, doing some competing in the horse world and obedience and agility in the dog world. I have been living in Fort McMurray for 5 years now, and feel like I have finally found the perfect way to love the winter season here. I have started to teach one of my German Shepherds how to pull a sled, and she loves it! Between interacting with the dogs, and learning from Randy, I feel lucky to be part of the team, and I can’t wait to gain more experience mushing in the future!
